Sex Therapy & Counselor Education: Blended Learning Program
You want to learn sex therapy or become a sexuality counselor…
You have so many commitments–yet this is important. And, there are no programs nearby. The desire to help people with their sexual problems pulls at you. It feels like a mission, a purpose, and you are thirsty to learn—but how?
Let The Buehler Institute show you.
You have two options. Stay on this page if you want to learn about the Blended Learning Program (aka “the hardcore program”) which combines the best of two worlds, online education and live seminar training. The program is designed for licensed psychotherapists or for students or interns on track in a program with a degree that allows you to become a licensed psychotherapist. Allied healthcare professionals who wish to counsel patients are also welcome to attend.
If you want high quality learning in a convenient format, this is the program for you. In a year you can earn 150 units in sex therapy training, virtually all of the education you need for sex therapy certification by the American Association of Sexuality Educators, Counselors, and Therapists.*
The majority of the coursework is online. Log in whenever you’d like during each Module. Learn by listening to expert recorded lectures, watch thought-provoking documentaries, and participate in lively optional online discussions. Twice a month you can tune into a Google hangout with Dr. Stephanie Buehler to get questions answered and to reflect on what you’ve learned. (Hangouts are also optional, and will be recorded for later viewing.)
You have two attempts to pass each course quiz and module final exam. Once you have finished all of the online modules and two live weekends in warm, wonderful Southern California, you will earn a certificate telling the world that you earned 150 units of sex therapy education.
Twice during the year, you’ll come to Orange County, CA (located halfway between Los Angeles and San Diego) for 3-day learning experiences to top off your sex therapy education. Weekends are offered four times a year and are interchangeable so you can select the dates that best suit your schedule. Lunch included all three days to make life easier.
Dr. Stephanie Buehler is a licensed psychologist in the state of California and has been in practice for over 15 years as a sex and relationship therapist. She is the author of What Every Mental Health Professional Needs to Know about Sex and Sex, Love, and Mental Illness: A Couples Guide to Staying Connected. There’s an upcoming book, too: Counseling Couples Before, During, and After Pregnancy: Sexuality and Intimacy.
Dr. Buehler is an in-demand speaker around the US and has been quoted and has many articles published in major media and academic journals. In her former career, she was a public school teacher and worked for an educational publishing company as a writer and editor–which is why the program is stimulating and set up for the way people really learn.
